First, I spelled the name of the high school wrong. It is Ushikueishin.
But they sound really cool, they go skiing once or twice a year so I'm bringing my ski helmet. The younger kids play basketball so I know I'll be able to bond with them that way. And she sent me some great links to the town, which isn't actually Ushikueishin, it's Tsuchiura.
Japanese page on the high school. I suggest going through google language tools and putting in the url to get the whole page, but if you want to see what a Japanese website looks like:
http://www.ushikueishin-h.ed.jp/
Tsuchiura city webpage too:

Thank god for Google. That's still way impressive that you can type in Japanese at all.
I love how when I look on Google Maps, and I asked for directions from Tokyo to Tsuchiura, it defaulted to giving me "public transit" directions. Looks like it takes 2 hours from city center - kinda like Lake Forest. Nice location!
This looks awesome. I'm totally stoked to visit.
Also noticed that "Department Horsehide" is what looks like ... the baseball team?
Translation from Japanese is very hard. The language structure is completely different. I don't know what the name of their baseball team but I'm pretty sure it's more normal than Department Horsehide.
