Homesick

I got pretty homesick today. I went for a run and that seemed to help. It's weird because when I would go to camp or adventure trips before I would never get homesick. I think it's that plus the loneliness that makes it painful. I'm trying to keep occupied. Whenever I'm bored is when I get homesick. I don't start school until next Monday. I have orientation Wednesday but the school is in the middle of their two week summer break. Once school starts I think I'll be fine but the upcoming week is daunting. This weekend my family is going out of town to a basketball game the boys are playing in a a faraway city and leaving me at home. My host mother's two daughters from Tokyo are coming in to house sit, but it means that I have a lot of free time then. I'm not excited.

Last night I showed my host family my yearbook. They really like it, insisted on seeing pictures of all my friends and me. They were fascinated by Treated and boyfriend/ girlfriend relations. The piercing and tattoo section caught their attention too. That's all forbidden over here.

Tomorrow we're going into Tokyo to the Sony science museum. I'm looking forward to that. The website looked really cool.

I watched something interesting on the history channel about tattoos. Apparently in Japan they are becoming more westernized and are still taboo because only Yakuza used to have them. They would get full body tattoos and apparently tattooed skins of people are sold on the black market. Ew.

1. That's awesome Becky.
2. Scott, thank you for the website. I shall follow it religiously. Your trip sounds amazing so far.
3. If you get bored, go and try to find a vending machine that dispenses dirty underwear. If you find one, send me a pair, that would be hilarious. I would frame them.

Scott. I know it is completely different (because of the distance), but I think I can relate a little to what you said. I feel homesick too when I'm not busy. It may be weird, but I feel most homesick right when I wake up in the morning, just because I'm in this weird place and everything seems new again. I know you are going to be alright. You da man. Once you get busy, I think you'll feel better.
